The quiet dormancy of winter,... it’s the best time to be in the kitchen. I love freezing my garden harvests in the summer, so I can cook, can, and create with the produce in the winter. But you don’t have to be an active gardener to take advantage of the warm kitchen in the winter. It’s the best time to learn what to do with food! 

Empower Yourself in the Kitchen

If you’ve ever had a desire to know what to do with food, turn your kitchen into a classroom! Whether you get your ingredients from your garden or from the grocery store, it doesn’t matter. Choose a recipe you’d like to learn and give it a whirl. Bake your own bread from scratch. Make your own tomato sauce from scratch. Learn how to roast veggies, use seasonings and spices, and build up your repertoire of cooking and baking skills. Even if it is just learning one new recipe, it’s worth it! Get rid of any intimidation, let go of any past failures. Creating good food and delicious meals will make you feel empowered!!!

Many visitors to local farmers markets and produce stands, browse the fresh items for sale and mention how they would love to use them, but don’t know what to do with them.
